With his honest, emotive voice and sparkling guitar and keyboard playing,
Gordon Kaswell's music covers a wide range of styles, from traditional
American and British folk music, to classic and contemporary Rock, Folk and
Jazz.
Gordon wrote and performed the musical score for The Passionate
Harvest , a documentary on coffee culture and agriculture that earned a 2001
Platinum Award at the Worldfest film festival in Houston, Texas. He is also the
co-author of The Performer, an evocative jazz tune that was featured
in the ABC-TV docudrama A Murderous Affair . An accomplished acoustic
guitarist, he learned his craft in the coffee houses of Boston, Massachusetts.
He has produced two CD's: Java Roads , which features the full-length
versions of the music from the Passionate Harvest , and Overnight Sensation ,
his new singer/songwriter release. His song from that CD, The Price of Freedom ,
was a finalist in the 2003 Willamette Valley Folk Festival songwriting contest.
Gordon has written and performed custom music for a wide range of commercial
clients, including Symantec Software, States Industries of Eugene, the Oakridge
Chamber of Commerce, the Pro Background Theme Music library and Jake's Place
Restaurant. (Gordon's song, Jake's Place Blues is featured in the current
Jake's Place ad on KVAL-TV in Eugene.)
Gordon is also a freelance writer on science issues. His work
has appeared in Infinite Energy Magazine, UFO Magazine and the Eugene Weekly.
He performs regularly at Jake's Place, Early Rise Coffeehouse
and Wild Oats Market. Other venues include Cafe Paradiso and Borders Bookstores
in Eugene and Corvallis, and the Holiday Farmer's Market at the Lane County Fairgrounds.
