Out of the Pacific Northwest, Toni Land, award-winning singer/songwriter
is described as “surefooted in her travels between country and folk.” Land
has earned comparisons to Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin and Lucinda Williams. Her
fourth CD, Lucky Cat , just released on Wondergirl Music, is bluegrass,
country and rock and roll at it's best! Fun, intelligent, and heart-warming, Lucky
Cat unfurls like one of Land's captivating live performances: Full throttle
at the start, dynamic in the middle, and intimate at the end.
With homes in
both The Pacific Northwest and Southern California, Land tours aggressively
on the West Coast and has earned a reputation for her dynamic crowd-wowing
live performances. As Greg Moore of Jam Magazine comments, “Toni raises the
bar on what powerful performance should be.” She has played return engagements
at many of the region's largest festivals, including the California Avocado
Festival (100,000-plus attendees), The Daisychain Music Fair (55 top Northwest
female acts), North by Northwest and Oregon's Bite of Portland. Land performs
in concert with her full band as well as in more intimate settings as a solo,
duo, or trio.
Since the year 2000 release of her last CD, Deep In Diamonds,
Land has earned critical acclaim nationally and internationally. The cut "Good
For Me" landed
at #4 on MP3.com's Triple A Chart out of millions of songs. Land was also voted
in the “Top Ten Artists” poll for 2002 by Radio 98.6 listeners in Berlin, and
was invited to showcase for the Los Angeles USA Songwriters Competition “Circle
of Songs”.
Land
is a stellar songwriter and has earned publishing and production deals throughout
her career. The new album, Lucky Cat boasts a lush new version of the
title cut from her first CD, "Chocolate Cake for Breakfast" which earned her
a Nashville publishing deal. Before this, “Have You Ever Seen Your Real Love”,
the single from this same album, landed on the Gavin Top 40 Adult/Contemporary
Chart and earned Land a national distribution deal. Land has been awarded Best
Songwriter by the Portland Songwriter Association and currently holds the respected
role as Mentor for the organization.
